The Malaysian Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (MVCA), formed in 1995, comprises leading and active players in the private equity, direct investment and venture capital industry. Its mission is to promote and develop the venture capital and private equity industry in Malaysia, and advocates policies that enhance the environment for entrepreneurial and venture capital/private equity activities. It serves as the authorized platform for members to express their views to policy makers in resolving issues and removing obstacles that impede the growth of the venture capital and private equity industry.
MVCA also acts as the Secretariat to the Asia Pacific Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (APVCA), which provides a platform for high-level discussion, strategic linkages in business partnership and networking amongst regional private equity and venture capital associations within the Asia Pacific rim.

- tax exemption for venture capital management companies on income received from profit sharing agreements;
- consultation on the guidelines on the registration of VCs with the Securities commission;
- outsourcing of funds from the Government thereby further promoting the development of private venture capital companies;
- inclusion in committees on the evaluation for grant applications from the government;
- CPE-accreditation of its training events by the Securities Industry Development Centre (SIDC) of the SC. MVCA members who are SC license-holders have the additional benefit of the CPE entitlement;
- the establishment of the Malaysian Venture Capital Development Council (MVCDC) under the purview of the Securities Commission (SC). The Council is entrusted to oversee the efficient and effective development of the venture capital industry.
